On Saturday we had a chance to go to the State Fair. We tried to keep it somewhat inexpensive, so we didn't do any of the carnival rides but we did see a lot of interesting displays, an alligator show, and got some free stuff at some of the safety demos. Of course, we had to eat dinner and funnel cakes too, because what is a fair without the food!
A sculpture of cows made entirely out of butter ... pretty unusual but cool too
Hadleigh and Landon were excited to try out the SLCPD motorcycles
This fire truck was roped off but a nice lady from the Department of Public Safety lifted Landon up onto it so he could see what it was like (and so I could take a picture!)
The last thing we did before it got too dark to take pictures was watch a show called "Cachunga and the Alligator". It apparently started in FL as a community education demonstration and has now turned into a crazy show. We did learn a lot of interesting things about alligator safety, plus we got to see one being wrestled out of the water and onto a stage and they even had a girl Hadleigh's age come up from the audience and sit on the alligator's back. Like I said, it was crazy.
