more soccer

Hadleigh played in her third soccer game of the season last night and did a great job. They team they played against was really good, but Hadleigh's team still managed to get three goals and they didn't ever give up. Scott and I noticed a few things that the parents and coach on the other team were doing that were pretty unsportsmanlike. I felt really proud of and impressed with our players, coach, and parents for they way they were all behaving, despite the fact that we were losing BIG TIME.

Hadleigh had a chance to play goalie in the second quarter which was always her favorite position last year. Despite having to try and block some pretty amazing shots by the other team, she worked really hard and definitely improved as the quarter progressed. Some of her throws and kicks out of the goalie box were really great too.

In the third quarter, Hadleigh played defense.
At one point, she got control of the ball (no small task against the team they played) and managed to take it all the way down to the opposite goal and attempt a shot.
Her shot was blocked (as was she in the picture that I got of her - she's directly behind the red shirt #4). In the pic, you can see she was in the other team's goalie box and had just kicked the ball in an attempt to score. It was awesome that she kept control of the ball for so long and far against such talented defenders. Way to go Hadleigh and Team #8!!
