hadleigh's leprechaun trap

I know this is a few weeks late, but it's too cute not to post.

For St. Patrick's Day, the first graders at Hadleigh's school were given an assignment to design and create a Leprechaun trap. Anyone who knows me knows that I am not exactly crafty so I was happy when Hadleigh came home with dozens of ideas (she even drew up an adorable "plan" on her chalkboard that I failed to get a picture of before it got erased!). But, she knew exactly what she wanted to do and with some help from my mother-in-law (who took her to buy supplies and helped her get the whole project going) she created the cutest trap. The pictures below are ones Scott took with his phone when he dropped her off at school the day the trap was due. You can't see it in the pictures, but the pail inside the box was filled with chocolate gold coins and skittles - so even though Hadleigh was planning to trap the leprechaun inside the box at least he was getting some of the gold. How thoughtful of her!
