vacation (last two days)

FRIDAY
We were so exhausted from our day at the park on Thursday that we decided to take it easy and just hang out around the resort on Friday.

Horseback rides for the kids
Hadleigh and Landon took turns riding around the horse section of the resort on a horse named Soldier. They each go to ride for about 10 minutes and seemed to really enjoy it.

After the horses, we were going to check out these pink sand dunes that were relatively nearby and take some of the resorts sleds with us so we could sled down the dunes. We weren't sure we could get there and back before lunchtime though (and we DID NOT want to miss one of the yummy meals) so we decided to do the zip line again since everyone loved it so much the first time.

I decided not to do the zip line again because I really wanted to try some of the rock walls instead. It was SO much harder than I thought it would be but was really fun anyways. I had 30 minutes to do whichever ones I wanted. I started with the easy one and made it to the top but my arms were so tired after trying one of the more advanced ones (and only making it about 1/3 of the way up) that I gave the rest of my time to Scott.

After lunch, Scott was invited to join in on a game of paintball that almost everyone at the resort was going to play. Of course, he was super excited to do that, so I took the boys back to the cabin for naps (and started these ridiculously long blog posts) while Hadleigh stayed outside to play with a friend she had made there. Unfortunately, Hadleigh showed up at the cabin a short time later hysterically crying, with an enormous goose egg on her head, and her face and arms covered with blood. After getting her some ice, cleaning all the cuts, and calming her down I discovered that she had been riding a razor WITHOUT a helmet and hit a small rock that sent her flying over the handlebars! She was okay ultimately, but it was pretty traumatic for her (and for me!).

SATURDAY

Sadly, our vacation had to come to an end on Saturday. We packed up the car after breakfast, said goodbye to all of the nice people we met, and headed back home. On our way home, though, we stopped in Cedar City to visit some old friends that Scott and I knew growing up. They are building a house on some property that they own so we me them there and were able to see what they have done so far. Landon was especially excited since we were surrounded by dirt and they happened to be doing some digging that day so Landon (and Hadleigh also) actually got to ride on the tractor they were using. It was probably the highlight of the whole vacation for Landon.

As I said before, we had a BLAST on our vacation. It was fun being able to spend time together and to just have fun. If anyone wants more info about the resort we were at, check out their website at http://www.zionponderosa.com/unpack-once.html. We can't wait to go back!!

Was this at Zion's Ponderosa? I went there a few years back with the fam and had a wonderful time! It looks like you did as well, I love being able to go on vacations.

Tell Landon that as his recreation guide at Zion Ponderosa I am visibly upset that the highlight of his whole vacation was the TRACTOR! I guess I needed to make his zip line or horseback riding a little more dangerous and exciting. Next Time!!
