Ouch!

On Wednesday, Jackson was "sitting" (usually he decides to stand instead) on a chair at our kitchen table when all of a sudden he slipped and plunged to the floor, somehow biting completely through the skin below his bottom lip in the process:(
After the blood stopped gushing, we took him to an Instacare. The doctor there said it would heal with the least amount of scarring if he was able to stitch it up. He wasn't sure if Jackson would hold still enough, though (with him being only two and all) but he said he would try. He put some numbing gel on the area to lessen the pain of the upcoming lidocaine shot. Then he had the nurse wrap Jackson up in a papoose board so he was completely unable to move (he was hysterical at this point and no pain had even started yet, except for the initial cut obviously). Then they turned on a BRIGHT overhead light and laid a large piece of paper, with a mouth hole cut out of it, over Jack's head.

The doctor immediately started to administer the lidocaine shot and it seemed to be very painful because Jack was screaming bloody murder. He then started right in on the first stitch, despite Jackson's continued screaming and hysteria. I have no idea how he managed to do it, but he was able to complete three stitches without causing any additional injury (which seemed inevitable with how much Jack was moving his face!)
We will be returning to the Instacare next Wednesday to have the stitches removed. And hopefully not for a while after that! :)

Oh Amber - what a nightmare! Hopefully Scott was with you. To be honest sometimes I think their injuries are harder on us than them...not really, but you know what I mean. Hope he feels Ok to eat.
