school days

Whenever back-to-school time rolls around I am reminded of this commercial from forever ago. It made me laugh when I was the one going back to school as I could totally relate to the kids but it's even funnier to me now as a parent!

Fortunately, unlike in the commercial, Hadleigh and Landon couldn't be more excited about heading back to school...

Last Wednesday Hadleigh started 3rd grade at Saratoga Shores Elementary. It's a new school than she's been at for the past three years because she was accepted into the school district's Accelerated Learning Lab (A.L.L.) Program and it is only offered at some of the schools. This means we are sacrificing the past ability for Hadleigh to walk/bike the half mile to the closest elementary school, but it is well worth it for her to have the opportunities that are offered to her in the A.L.L. Program. She loves her teacher, the new friends she's made, and the things she's learning. She comes home from school every day saying it was "awesome" and goes to bed every night saying she can't wait to go to school the next day. I really hope that her enthusiasm lasts!

Yesterday, was Landon's first day of his second (and final) year of Preschool. He is back with Miss Jenny Penny, who he adores, and a lot of his classmates from his first year of preschool. They go for a half-hour longer each day but other than that it is much the same as last year. This definitely gives him a huge sense of security and comfort, and of course enthusiasm. Hopefully, his will last as well!

He said that in the first picture I took he needed to have his eyes closed. I'm not sure of the reason for his request, but the picture makes me laugh anyway:)
