As a reward for finally mastering potty training, we told Landon he could go to the "day out with Thomas" that comes to the Heber Railroad in UT around this time each year. Knowing Landon's obsession with Thomas, for Scott & me it actually wasn't even a matter of if he would go, but when. Luckily, Landon didn't realize that, so it was great motivation for him to use the potty. Since Scott had class and someone had to stay with the other kids, we asked my father-in-law if he would take Landon to see Thomas and he kindly agreed to do it. It sounded like, despite the crowds and the heat, they had a good time.

They went on the first train ride of the first day of the exhibit, and Thomas' face somehow hadn't been uncovered yet, so Landon keeps saying that Thomas was broken so they rode on Mavis instead (there's a Thomas & friends train named Mavis that is black with black & yellow stripes just like the Heber train is).

Since the actual train ride is so short, maybe we'll take Landon to the Heber railroad another time this year for the Halloween "Heber Creeper" or the Christmastime "Polar Express". My father-in-law suggested we just go up there and look at Thomas next year, buy Landon a t-shirt and then take him to McDonald's and he'll enjoy it just as much. He's probably right - too bad Landon might be too old to figure it out by then, though!
A quick note about the t-shirt, Scott got him one when they went last year and Landon wore it out so completely that we asked my father-in-law to pick up a new one for him. It was all I could do to tear it off Landon for a few hours yesterday to wash it because he has worn it literally 24 hours a day (even to sleep in) since he got it!
