Scott and I had the privilege of going on a nine day vacation with just ourselves and our friends, the Allen's (aka, no kids)! We flew to New York where we had half a day to tour around before our cruise to Bermuda was scheduled to depart. We sailed to Bermuda for two days and then spent three days docked in the beautiful country. Then we sailed back to New York in one day, and spent another two days there before coming home. Here are a few pictures (they were all taken on our phones so I apologize in advance for the quality!!)...
Day 1: New York City
Inside the Plaza Hotel
(we flew in on the red eye the night before which is why we all look so tired!)
The Empire Hotel
(probably only meaningful if you're a fellow Gossip Girl fan). I know I'm a dork.
We saw a scene from an upcoming Ben Stiller movie ("Walter Mitty") being filmed!
We didn't see Ben though:(
This was on the top deck of the Cruise Ship, while it was still docked in Manhattan.
We had a nice view of NYC as we left the port.
Yep, we were surprised by a different towel animal every night :)
We were so busy eating and sunbathing (and Scott laying down in the room because he was sea sick) while we were cruising that I somehow managed not to take any pictures of us on the actual cruise ship. We even celebrated our 8th wedding anniversary on one of the days but, sadly, I have no pics:(
Day 4: First Day in Bermuda
This was at Dockyard, where our ship was ported
There was a cool glass blowing/rum cake store there. It was already a million degrees outside, so you can only imagine how hot it was in there with all of the ovens burning and no AC!
We rented scooters and rode them halfway across the island, to the city of Hamilton
We stopped at this one beautiful beach and decided to snorkel there, but I didn't have any snorkel gear so Scott walked up to the gift shop at the nearest hotel to buy me some. Yes, he wore his diving shoes the whole way.
When we got to Hamilton, I couldn't wait to try the local Fish and Chips! So delicious.
This is what Hamilton looked like... such a cute town.
This is a view of our cruise ship at night.
Day 5: 2nd Day in Bermuda
We took a ferry to the other side of the island to see the town of St. George, which was rich with history
A beautiful view from the ferry. I loved all of the different colored housed that dotted the shoreline all around the island. Homes there start at $1 million!
In St. George...
Scott in front of the Police Station
"The unfinished church"
St. Peter's Church (the oldest Protestant church in the New World)- It was the site of a date on the 'Bachelorette' this season too :)
A replica of one of the ships that the settlers built to continue onto America after crashing into Bermuda.
Day 6: Last day in Bermuda
Then we went to this gorgeous beach
We had to walk from the beach all the way up to the road (see that skinny, sandy path?) to get to a bus stop. That was my exercise for the trip.
Day 8: New York City (round 2)
We road the Subway, of course.
We went to the 9/11 Memorial at ground zero
Over by the Statue of Liberty, we came across this sculpture that used to be in the lobby of one of the Twin Towers (hence the damage to it)
It's accompanied by an Eternal Flame
This American Merchant Mariners Memorial (by the boat dock for the Statue of Liberty) was really unusual
Scott in front of Dunkin' Donuts, of course :) (Just kidding, I love doughnuts way more than he does)
A kiss for Ricky Martin :) (He's in the play 'Evita' right now and his is pic was plastered on the wall outside of the theater it was playing in. How could I resist!)
We went to the M&M Factory
Then had dinner at a yummy Italian restaurant
After dinner we went to see the movie "Snow White and the Huntsman" at a really cool old theater that used to be a stage theater
We walked around the Upper East Side...
Here's Trump Tower
The Plaza Hotel (from the outside this time)
Dylan's Candy Bar (owned by Ralph Lauren's daughter)
The Palace Hotel (for any fellow Gossip Girl fans) :)
St. Patrick's Cathedral
We ate lunch at Serendipity 3 (here's me pouting in front of my frozen hot chocolate because I was so exited to get the AMAZING red velvet cake they have at the Vegas Serendipity, but apparently not at the NY one).
And we went to Rockefeller Center (Scott was having a hard time not chewing his gum so we could take a picture - notice his open mouth in every one)
We also did some shopping at this awesome store called Century 21 (like TJ Maxx but HUGE). Um, we might have gone there both days we were in NYC. :)
We drove to the airport that night in style! Ben surprised us with a Limo (since it was his and Kara's wedding anniversary).
Bye vacation! We miss you already!!!
