lots of firsts

Thursday was Hadleigh's first day of 2nd grade. Thursday night was also her first soccer game of the season. Today is Scott's first day (FINALLY) of the Police Academy. Today was also Landon's first day of his first year of Preschool (with an October birthday, he will go to Preschool for two years).

Here are a few pics of all of the "firsts" in order of occurrence:

Hadleigh is really enjoying 2nd grade so far. She has always loved school so that is not a huge surprise, but still good news anyway. Her teacher seems really nice but also knows how to be in charge (which will probably be handy with 25 seven-year-olds!). Hadleigh was super excited to be sporting new clothes, shoes, and backpack Thursday morning. She also wanted me to take a picture of her doing a new trick she just figured out how to do last week, crazy girl!

Hadleigh was great in her soccer game. She played defense twice and was forward once. Her team won the game with a score of 7-0. Hadleigh scored one of the goals (and was the only girl to get one). We were sitting next to the net that Hadleigh's team was guarding so we didn't see a whole lot of action in front of us - hence most of our pics being really far away and of Hadleigh's back. We were really proud of Hadleigh, she is becoming quite the athlete!

Here are some pictures of Scott before he headed off to his first day at the Academy. I had to get up at 6:00 this morning to take these!! This day has been such a long time coming, I am so proud and excited for him (and it's obvious Scott is a little excited too!). I know Scott is going to do great and is going to love learning and doing everything in the Academy. He is going to make such an amazing Trooper!

Here is Landon, a few hours later, as he headed off to Preschool. This is the first time he will be going somewhere on his own on a regular basis without me. It feels strange, but I am really excited for him. I can't wait to see him grow socially and mentally as the year progresses!!
cute Jack trying to figure out what all the fuss is about
Landon was so excited to buy & now finally USE this new Lightning McQueen backpack

Also, I totally forgot to post this a few weeks ago when it happened, but it goes along well with the first theme, so I'll add it here.

We got a little extra money from selling a book on Amazon, so we decided to use it to buy Landon his first big boy bike (he was long overdue for one). Of course, he loves it and can't get enough of riding it. We got one that is a little big for him hoping that it will last a while. Unlike with Hadleigh where we seemed to be buying a 2" bigger wheel size every few months (and spending another $50!) to keep up with her growth. Here are some pictures of Landon's maiden voyage on his first 2-wheeler:
