Christmas...finally!

We had a pretty low-key but fun Christmas this year. My mom came into town a few days before Christmas and stayed a few days after, so we were able to do some fun things with her. We went shopping a few times (including going to Costco to get things for our Christmas meal and tons of other fun things - THANKS MOM), we saw the lights and reindeer at Thanksgiving Point, and we played in the snow (although our snowman looked more like a snow blob).
Being from D.C., my mom doesn't have snow boots, but when she arrived here and saw all the snow she wanted to go buy some. First stop was Walmart- we didn't find any cute boots, but we did have fun trying on hats:
One night, we were at Pottery Barn Kids at Trolley Square and all of a sudden none of us could find Landon anywhere. While Scott was out searching the mall, I walked to the back of PB Kids and there was Landon, making himself right at home in this pink kitchen. Knowing Landon's love of cooking, none of us should have been surprised but it was pretty funny (after the fear of losing him wore off anyway).
Playing in the snow (it was not good snowman snow that day, but it was fun anyway): Hadleigh, Landon, & me making snow angels:

On Christmas Eve, we did our family tradition of going out for Chinese food. Then our friends, the Andersons, came over for brownies and eggnog, and we did a few other traditions like playing 'hide the thimble', opening Christmas crackers, and reading The Night Before Christmas and the Christmas story in Luke.

On Christmas morning, we of course saw what Santa brought us and opened other gifts. Then we put a turkey in the oven and watched Wall-E, a movie my mom gave Hadleigh for Christmas. After a few quick preparations (mostly done by my mom - THANKS AGAIN, MOM), we ate a delicious Christmas lunch/dinner.
Christmas morning:

Hadleigh used her birthday money to buy a gift for each member of the family through a program at the elementary school called Santa's Secret Shop. She selects and pays for the gifts (all are just a few dollars) and they wrap them at school so she can put them under the tree and surprise us all. She was really excited about it and definitely got her first taste of how giving is better than receiving. Below is the flashlight/lantern she gave Scott:

Later on Christmas day we headed over to my In-laws house to exchange gifts.
Hadleigh got a lot of clothes that she thinks are like what Hannah Montana would wear, which is the goal I guess. She also loves to wear makeup now (she does it herself and can wear it whenever she wants to except to church or school) Jackson got two really cute onesies - the one with a tie also has a missionary badge that says "Jr Missionary; Soldier for the Army of Helaman" and the other says "I keel you" and has a drawing of Jeff Dunham's Achmed character

After presents, the kids turned on some music and were dancing around together.
Here are a few more cute pictures from my mom's visit.
