Thanksgiving

So, this year I felt really motivated and decided to host Thanksgiving at our house and make the whole meal myself. Along with our family, Scott's parents and brother and sister and niece joined us for the big meal. I have been planning since October, shopping since last week, and cooking since Monday, but it all seemed to come together in the end. I tried to make everything homemade like I grew up with (i.e. made-from-scratch pie crusts & fillings, rolls, and bread for the stuffing). This was a lot more work than I realized but, for the most part, seemed worth it. There were a few setbacks (like partially raw turkey and too dry stuffing), but luckily my veteran Thanksgiving-meal-preparing inlaws were there to help! We just relaxed and visited and ate all day, so it was fun. I know I won't be ready to do another huge meal like this for a while, but I'm glad I got to try it. I guess now I know why Thanksgiving only comes once a year!

The table...

Scott & my father in law trying to salvage the turkey! Some of the pies! Jackson trying to gnaw on Scott's head

Hadleigh was exhausted! Scott's brother and sister

A cute Halloween pic of Jack, just because...
