Halloween seemed to be a week-long event for us this year, so here's the breakdown of what we did.
Monday:
(This is for you mom!) My mom sent a Halloween package in the mail which was waiting for us when we got back into town late Sunday night. Since the kids went right to bed, I set their packages out on the table for them to open in the morning. There was a package and a card for Hadleigh and a package and a card for Landon. Landon beat the rest of us downstairs in the morning, however, and he went ahead and opened both cards, both packages, and was helping himself to all the candy inside. Crazy kid!
Also, on Monday we went to my friend Kara's house for a kid-oriented pirate Halloween party. She had fun games and prizes, a moon bounce, yummy drinks & treats, and cupcake decorating. We had a really good time!
We finally had a night when our whole family was home (and didn't have anywhere else we needed to be), so we carved our pumpkins!

Wednesday:
A few pictures of the kids before and at our neighborhood "Trunk or Treat". It was a nice chance to socialize, fun for the kids to get tons of candy even before Halloween, and there were doughnuts & hot chocolate there. What more could you ask for?
Landon was a rock star, Hadleigh was a flower fairy, and Jackson was a monkey (with a banana on his head).
Look at Jackson's cute tail!

Friday- finally Halloween day!:
There was a costume parade at Hadleigh's school. I thought I had a good spot for watching, until the parade started and I (and all the parents around me) realized it wasn't going to go past us but was circling around before it even reached that end of the hall. Unfortunately, all the parents around me quickly crowded in and I ended up in the back. I was able to see Hadleigh but she couldn't see me and I wasn't able to get a good shot of her her in any of the pictures I took as she passed (she's right in front of spiderman in the picture below, in the orange & pink). Oh well, I tried!
After her class filed out, I decided to go around back and see if I could catch her outside so she'd at least know I was there (and of course to try to get a picture!). We got to the side of the school JUST in time and she and Landon were happy to see each other -- too cute!
That would be Hadleigh's head behind those boxes. I wasn't having the best of luck with my picture taking that morning!Just before we headed out to trick-or-treat, I had to get a few more pictures.

Finally, the event the entire week was building up to as far as the kids were concerned. This year Landon was really good at saying trick-or-treat, happy Halloween, and thank you. Scott told both kids that for every time they forgot to say thank you they had to give him a piece of candy. I imagine we had some of the politest kids in the neighborhood!!
